Macy Dot is a charismatic singer-songwriter from Austin, Texas, currently based in Nashville, Tennessee and is recognized for her infectious energy, authentic storytelling, and relatable modern-day persona. A recent graduate of Belmont University, Macy earned a degree in songwriting with a minor in music business from the prestigious Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. Her talent and dedication have earned her notable recognition, including BMI’s 2023 Dolly Parton Songwriting Award, 2020 Young Artist of the Year by the Texas Country Music Association, selection as one of eight finalists for the Texas Songwriter U Class of 2022, and inclusion in the 2025 Song Cast by the Rockport Songwriter Association. Her music continues to gain traction, with two singles featured on NSAI’s Bob Kingsley Top 40.
Macy’s performance resume reflects both her Texas roots and growing national reach. She has appeared on stages including the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Houston Rodeo, Fort Worth Rodeo, Rodeo Austin, SXSW, South Congress ACL parties, the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame Showcase, the Nashville Spotlight Showcase at CMA Fest, the 55th Anniversary of Austin Lights at Zilker Metropolitan Park, NAMM Kyser Showcase, and John Rich’s Redneck Riviera Opening Celebration at CMA Fest. In Texas, she has performed at fan-favorite venues including the Saxon Pub in Austin, the historic Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos, Willie Nelson’s Poodie’s Hilltop Roadhouse in Spicewood, and Dosey Doe’s in The Woodlands.
Her experience also includes notable writers’ rounds at the Bluebird Café, Key West Songwriters Festival, Fernandina Songwriters Festival, The Listening Room, and as a featured BMI writer alongside renowned songwriter Liz Rose at the Cindy Walker Days Music Festival. Her interview with Jenna Heidman, “Should’ve Been A Cowgirl,” was featured on SiriusXM and RFD-TV.
Performing since the age of two, Macy has shared the stage opening for an impressive lineup of artists including Kacey Musgraves, Gary P. Nunn, Zane Williams, The Powell Brothers, Randy Rogers Band, Charlie Robison, Austin Cunningham, Parmalee, Thompson Square, Craig Campbell, Darrin Morris Band, Crystal Yates, and others.
Her early musical foundation was shaped under the mentorship of John DeFoore, former guitar teacher to Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves. Beginning at the age of ten, it was John who encouraged her to take her original songs to the stage, sparking a lifelong passion for songwriting rooted in lyrical authenticity, emotional connection, and storytelling from varied perspectives.
When she’s not on stage, Macy Dot is deeply immersed in songwriting, drawing from both life’s challenges and celebrations to shape her music. Now actively collaborating within Nashville’s songwriting community, she continues to refine her craft, building a growing catalog of work while staying true to the emotional honesty and perspective that defines her music. With a strong commitment to her artistry, she remains focused on continual growth, both as a writer and as a performer.
